Buying a Home with Acreage?
Here are a Few Things to Consider
Owning a home on a lot of land is a unique experience. It's not like living in the middle of a city, or in a suburban neighborhood. As such, there are a lot of things to consider if you're buying a home with acreage in Middle Tennessee.
What's the terrain like?
Middle Tennessee terrain typically consists of flat land with rich soil. Hills and knobs are also common.
Are there any water features located on the property?
If you're interested in living in a home with acreage that has a water feature on the property, please let me know. I would love to show you some homes for sale that match these criteria.
What are the property taxes like?
Depending on where exactly you live, and how many acres you own, property taxes will differ. In general, the State of Tennessee has some of the lowest property taxes in the United States. However, because a multiple-acre home is worth more than a typical suburban home in a city, you can expect to pay more in taxes annually.
For example, if you own a 73-acre home in Lewisburg worth $534,900 you can expect to pay around $4,800 in property taxes.
How far is the property from the Nashville airport?
Peaceful, secluded living in the Tennessee country means being a little farther away from big-city amenities. As such, you can expect to be at least an hour away from the Nashville airport.
